Dear Editor,

Have you recently visited our local animal shelter or humane society?  Seeing the sad eyes of the countless dogs and cats  who
are waiting for a home made me realize just how important spaying and neutering can be in reducing pet overpopulation.
According a study done by OSU College of Veterinary Medicine, 65% of dogs and cats in shelters and humane societies are
euthanized. Euthanasia causes employee heartbreak and housing costs waste taxpayer dollars. Now a simple specialty license plate can help put an end to these problems. The Ohio Pet License Plate provides funds necessary to help cover the costs of spay and neuter for adoptees from animal shelters and nonprofit organizations, which will hopefully help to prevent unwanted litters in our communities.
